The Cono de Arita is a 122-meter high, almost perfect conical shape rising up from the surrounding Salar de Arizaro, located at 3.460 meters in the Argentinian Andes. ​The location is in the middle of an otherworldly scenery, reached after a tough all-day long drive through very rugged terrain.

The reward was stunning. As the last rays of sunlight touch the cone’s smooth slopes, there is a fleeting moment when the white salty salar is completely in the shadows and the cone is still in the light.

To enhance the shining effect, I opted for a double exposure in rapid succession where the first image is in sharp focus, while the second is deliberately blurred.
