Alessandro Gruzza was born in Trento on November 1st, 1971. Raised on the foothills of the Dolomites, he discovered, appreciated and respected Nature from an early age.

He obtained a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Trento in 1999 and a Professional Certificate in Business Management from the University of California in San Diego in 2000.

He approached photography being motivated by an innate love for Nature and by the desire to transmit her beauty through inspiring images that generate a sense of belonging, respect and protection.
He learnt the photographic technique by working persistently in the field with SLR cameras, first analogic and then digital, and participating in specific courses with photography professionals, thus building up an experience of more than twenty years.
After having worked for several years as an entrepreneur in an IT services company, he chose to transform his passion for photography into work.

Professional photographer since 2013, he has won numerous awards in international nature photography contests.

He won a "Highly Commended Award" in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2020 and in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2022, organized by the Natural History Museum in London.
He won the 2nd prize in the Nature Photographer of the Year 2016, organized by the National Geographic in Washington.
He won awards in other international photography contests, among which Asferico 2007 and 2010, Glanzlichter 2010 and 2013, International Photography Awards 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016, WildlifePhoto 2017, International Garden Photographer of the Year 2020 and 2021, World Nature Photography Awards 2020 and 2021, Memorial Maria Luisa 2021, GDT 2022.

He published the books “Paths of Light” in 2012 (Temi Editions), “The Voice of the Dolomites” in 2018 (Munay Editions) and "You are Nature" in 2021 (Munay Editions), and contributed with his photographs to the creation of the books “Trentino, espressioni d’acqua” (2014, IASA Editions), “Parco Naturale Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino, un viaggio per immagini” (2015, IDESIA Editions) and “Una Montagna di Vita - Ecosistemi d’alta quota e cambiamenti climatici” (2018, Consiglio Nazionale Ricerche).

He founded the Munay publishing house in 2018, with the aim of creating photographic books aimed at conveying respect, protection and love for Nature. “The Voice of the Dolomites” and "You are Nature" have been personally published and produced.

He realized numerous photographic exhibitions, among which “The Mountains of the Desert” (Trento FilmFestival, Torre Mirana, 2016) and “The Voice of the Dolomites” (Trento FilmFestival, Palazzo delle Albere, 2019). From 2018 his photographs are displayed at the Centrum Jana Pawla II in Krakow (Poland) in the permanent collection “John Paul II in Trentino”.
He is the author of the 2014 official calendar of the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation, and some of his images are displayed in the permanent collection of the MUSE Science Museum in Trento, Italy. Moreover, he realized the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 calendar for the CAI Bolzano, and the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 calendar for the CAI Alto Adige.

He regularly organizes and leads photographic workshops and private photo tours in the Dolomites, where he shares his photographic experience and passion.
He is a partner of White&Poles Communication Ltd, owner of MountainBlog Italy and MountainBlog Europe, leader online magazine dedicated to the outdoor world.

He founded the Beauty Movement in 2020 with Andrea Bianchi, with the aim of rekindle our deep connection with the Earth and awaken the empathy and the sense of belonging, which spontaneously lead us to take care of it, as our home.
